Langtang is a narrow valley that lies just south of the Tibetan border Keyrong. The highest point in Langtang is the Langtang Lirung (7,246m). Other smaller mountains are Gang Chenpo (6,380m), Naya Kanga (5,846m) and Dorje Lhakpa (6,966m). Whereas Helambu is mostly villages of Sherpa settlements and offers very easy trek since the altitude remains below 3,500m and is accessible all year round. This year His Majesty’s Government has made open some new trekking routes in Rasuwa District, which were regarded as restricted area or routes for tourists. Some of these treks will take you closer to the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China.
Both Langtang and Helambu are located in the north of Kathmandu that offers a multitude of fine trekking destinations. Langtang region is inhabited by a majority of Tamang people with rich cultures and tradition. Helambu mostly inhabited by Sherpas too have rich cultures and traditions. Both these destinations are easy to reach and are accessible only by road. Langtang and Helambu are divided by a high pass with about 13 beautiful lakes. Gosainkunda being the biggest and the holiest of all.
Day 01Drive to Sundarijail and start trek to Chisopani. Overnight in lodge.
Day 02Chisopani to Kutumsang
Day 03Kutumsang to Tharepati
Day 04Tharepati to Tarkeghyang
Day 05Tarkeghyang to Sermathang
Day 06Sermathang to Memalchi Pul
Day 07Melamchi Pul to Kathmandu by jeep.
